About Me
Hey there! I’m Arran, a street, nature, portrait, and documentary photographer originally from England, now calling the bustling city of Bangkok my home. Photography has been my passion for many years, it’s my way of seeing and capturing the world around me. From the chaos of city streets to the calm of a mountain range, or the raw emotion of a portrait, I’m constantly inspired by the stories that unfold in everyday life.
For years, I worked as a professional photographer, but these days, I’m all about my personal projects. I love the freedom of creating images that reflect how I see the world, without deadlines or expectations. Photography is my creative outlet and as an introvert, it’s the perfect way for me to connect with people and places without needing to be at the center of attention. I get to step back, observe and capture moments that speak to me, moments that might otherwise be overlooked.
My love of photography runs deep, it’s not just something I do, it’s a part of who I am. There’s something magical about being able to freeze a moment in time, to capture the light, the emotion, and the subtle details that make life so unique. I love how photography allows me to see the world in totally different ways, discovering beauty in unexpected places and moments. Photography helps me connect to the world and to myself in a way that feels both peaceful and exciting. It’s a lifelong journey of learning, exploration, and creative expression that I wouldn’t trade for anything.
But I won’t lie, there was a time when I almost gave up on photography. The pressure of deadlines, the grind of commercial work and the weight of expectations almost made me lose sight of why I picked up a camera in the first place. It was a tough period, but I’m so glad I found my love for it again. Returning to the heart of my passion, working on personal projects and finding my voice again, was a reminder of why I fell in love with photography in the first place. Now, I approach each photo with a renewed sense of joy and purpose.
One thing you’ll notice in my work is my deep love for black and white photography. There’s just something magical about it. Without the distraction of colour, it allows the details, the light, the texture, the contrast, to take center stage. Every image becomes a study in emotion and mood. I’m drawn to how black and white can make a simple scene feel timeless, almost like it’s telling a story that transcends time. It’s not just about what you see; it’s about how you feel when you look at it. That’s what makes it so powerful!
Documentary photography has become a huge part of my work. I love diving deep into stories, capturing the real, unfiltered moments that define a place, a culture, or a person. Whether it’s a social issue, a personal journey, or a cultural event, documentary photography allows us to create a visual narrative that brings attention to the unseen, the unheard, or even the soon to be forgotten. It’s about telling stories that matter and shedding light on the human experience in all its beautiful, complicated forms.
When I’m not behind the camera, I’m at home with my amazing wife and daughter, oh and two dogs, trying to keep up with their endless energy (spoiler alert: it’s impossible). I’m also a huge fan of quiet moments, whether it’s reading a book, sipping on a good cup of coffee, or simply enjoying the serenity of being in the moment. Life’s a bit of a beautiful mess, and I love capturing it, one frame at a time.
So, take a look through my portfolio and let me know what you think! If something resonates with you, don’t be shy, reach out! I’d love to hear from you and share in the beauty of this world together.
